Experienced Fabricator

Job Title: Fabricator/Assistant Lead

Location:  Grand Rapids, MI

Pay: $23+/hr

Shift: 1st shift, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, overtime as needed including Saturdays

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Fabricator/Assistant Lead to join our team. In this dual-role position, you will be responsible for fabricating sheet metal components and assisting the lead fabricator in overseeing daily operations.

Responsibilities for the Fabricator/Assistant Lead:

- Fabricate sheet metal components from raw materials according to design specifications and blueprints

- Operate metalworking machinery such as shears, press brakes, and welders

- Assist the Lead Fabricator in overseeing daily shop operations

- Perform quality checks on fabricated components

- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior fabricators

- Troubleshoot fabrication issues and implement solutions

- Ensure all safety protocols and company guidelines are followed

- Maintain a clean and organized work area

- Collaborate with other departments and team members to meet project deadlines

Key Qualifications for the Fabricator/Assistant Lead:

- 2+ years of experience in sheet metal installation or related work

- Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and operating fabrication tools and machinery

- Strong understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and work specifications

- Leadership potential and ability to manage and support team members

- Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, or Stick welding preferred)

- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude

Preferred Skills for the Fabricator/Assistant Lead:

- Previous experience with HVAC systems

- Experience with metal fabrication machinery

- Strong mathematical skills
