Die Maker

Responsibilities:

• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
• Review blueprints for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications.
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine and hand tools.
• Mount materials or workpieces onto production equipment.
• Smooth metal surfaces or edges, working within small, tight tolerances and surface-critical parts.
• Develop and design new tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, or other devices for production equipment.
• Work with progressive dies, compound dies, and small hydraulic deep draw machines up to 35 tons, including prototypes.

Qualifications:

• Journeyman’s license required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 5-10 years of experience in die-making.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and machining knowledge.
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within tight tolerances.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
